Flavours at zero kilometres

The Cilento Pantry is the showcase of the producers of Pioppi and nearby villages: oil, fish, fruit and cheese from a short, organic supply chain. Every card shows the green traceability of the chain — the distance from the village and the sustainable practices — to cut the carbon footprint linked to transport and food.

Promoting local producers means shortening the chain, supporting the local economy and preserving the flavours at the heart of the Mediterranean Diet and of Cilento longevity.

Four green chains
of Cilento

Each chain is mapped with its distance from Pioppi and the practices that make it sustainable.

I
EVO Oil Cilento DOP · 6 km from Pioppi

Extra virgin from Pisciottana and Rotondella olives, cold-pressed within 24 hours of harvest by the cooperative mills of San Mauro Cilento. Hand harvest, DOP Cilento certification.

II
Menaica Anchovies · caught off Pioppi

Slow Food presidium: anchovies caught with the ancient "menaica" net off Pioppi, processed by hand and salted by the fishing families. Low-impact traditional fishing, KM 0.

III
White Figs of Cilento DOP · 9 km

Sun-dried in the traditional way and processed by hand. A historic local chain, a symbol of the centenarians' diet. Natural drying, DOP Cilento certification.

IV
Cacioricotta & goat dairy · 8 km

Cheeses from semi-wild inland farming in Serramezzana, made with milk produced within a few kilometres. Daily artisan production.
