Beyond the sea, toward the villages

Pioppi is not just a beach. A network of low-impact routes connects the marina to the inland hilltop villages — San Mauro Cilento and Serramezzana — through terraced olive groves, springs, rural chapels and ancient drovers' paths.

These itineraries are designed to spread tourism beyond the summer season and counter the village's depopulation: reasons to visit even in the off-season months, when Cilento shows its most authentic face — olive harvest, home cooking and slow rhythms.

The routes

Three slow itineraries
from Pioppi

On foot, on horseback or by e-bike: three low-impact ways to discover inland Cilento.

I
Olive Trail · Pioppi → San Mauro Cilento

8 km, +320 m, ~3 hours, medium difficulty. From the marina up through terraced olive groves to San Mauro Cilento, home of cooperative EVO oil. Fountains, rural chapels and Tyrrhenian views. Walking only: zero emissions.

II
Serramezzana loop on horseback

12 km, half a day, ideal in spring and autumn. The smallest village in Cilento, reached along ancient drovers' paths, run with local stables and farm stays. A nature experience for the shoulder seasons.

III
Coast & Hills by e-bike

22 km, +450 m, one day. A loop between Pioppi's seafront and the hilltop villages, rideable with pedal assistance. Tasting stops at the KM 0 producers of the Cilento Pantry.

IV
Territorial mapping of experiences

Every route is mapped and linked to the portal's partner producers and restaurants: a digital ecosystem that enhances the whole territory of Pollica and the neighbouring villages.
